Blades gaffer Neil Warnock has started his search for new recruits in January, and has travelled as far as Israel in hope of finding a star.

United are currently 14 points clear of third-placed Watford and chairman Kevin McCabe has given Warnock permission to splash the cash in the January transfer window.

The Blades boss will run the rule over the Scandinavian countries and has been linked with a move for Omer Golan, who plays in Israel for Petah Tikva.

Warnock said: ‘We can’t do anything until January. But there are six or seven names in the frame and we’ll hope to get one of them. I’m not even telling the directors who they are, just in case they tell the gardener!’
