Sheffield United have announced yesterday that they had accepted an offer from Hull City for defender Harry Maguire.
The 21 year old has been the subject of much speculation and a few offers from Hull this summer and they have now met our valuation.
A short statement confirming the development from the club was made by Managing Director Mel Brannigan who explained.
‘We made it clear that we wanted Harry to stay by offering him a new contract, unfortunately he chose a different path. However, we exercised our right to set our own valuation and after numerous bids which did not meet our expectations, Hull increased their offer and we have reluctantly accepted.’
Brannigan goes on to say that United are under no pressure financially to sell players, but given the player had made it clear he wished to explore other opportunities, the club feel they have secured a good fee which can be reinvested into the playing staff by manager Nigel Clough now.
