United’s second string went down 4-1 against Leicester City in the Pontins Cup, despite a number of senior players appearing.
Haber, Hendrie and Carney were joined by trialists Mark Fotheringham (ex Norwich), Jonathan Fortune (Charlton) and Seb Carole (ex Leeds Utd), but were still unable to overcome an impressive Foxes side.
Liban Abdi did get a goal for United but it wasn’t enough as United were already down 4-0.
The news got worse for the Blades as Lee Hendrie limped off at the end after United had used all their substitutes.
