They sure are driving a hard bargain.
It’s not just going to be a question of who blinks first for the deal to either go ahead or be called off.
According to a report from Sky, AFC Bournemouth have rejected our initial offer of £12m to bring goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale back to Bramall Lane. The South coast side claim that Ramsdale is at a similar stage of his career to Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was when he made the move to Merseyside back in 2017 for £25m, so might be looking for a lot more than what we’re offering, rather than this being a battle of a few million pounds here or there.
Although whether it will actually get as high as Pickford, we’ll just have to wait and see, but given that our budget for goalkeepers doesn’t look to be exceeding £20m at the moment, something tells me Ramsdale might be staying where he is.
Will the Blades sign a keeper other than Dean Henderson this summer?
Yes
No
And it was a combination of that asking price and the rejected bid that got some Blades fans laughing at social media, as they couldn’t believe the money that was going around surrounding the 22-year-old.
😫🤦🏼♂️

Wouldn’t pay £12m for an ex player we rejected. Lots of decent keepers around and as much as I’m grateful to Henderson I’d rather have a full time keeper that plays for us and not concede two games to Man Utd for goalie wag.

Is Cakir worth the extra money?

That’s just laughable tbh, Ramsdale is nowhere near £25m for a valuation pic.twitter.com/kYFltAg1ZK

What about you? What do you make of this news surrounding Ramsdale?
