Sheffield United boss David Weir was delighted to see his two strikers on target in the 2-2 draw with Greek Super League side Atromitos at Bramall Lane on Friday night.

Chris Porter and Lyle Taylor scored for the blades as they maintained their unbeaten run in pre-season and Weir says it is superb that the two have found their form in pre-season.

“Goalscorers live and die by the number of times they put the ball in the back of the net. To see our two strikers do that is, from our perspective, superb,” Weir told the Sheffield Star .

“It doesn`t matter what the game is. Pre-season or not. They`ll both be going home absolutely full of confidence.”

“Lyle has played about 50 minutes of football for us and scored twice,” Weir added. “Chris has been in a rich-vein of form and working hard too.

“They`ve both given me a lot to think about which is exactly what I want.”

Porter looked like he could have been on his way out of the club under former boss Danny Wilson when he was loaned out to Shrewsbury Town in the second half of last season.

The 29-year-old returned to United in April and he scored on his return against Walsall.

The striker, who netted just four times for United last season, scored his third goal in pre-season on Friday night.

Taylor looks to have brought his form from Falkirk to Bramall Lane. The 23-year-old netted 29 times in the Scottish First Division last season and he has now netted twice in his three appearances for United since arriving at the club.
