Stop the slip!
Well, I wasn`t expecting a loss on Saturday. I was watching the scores come in on Sky Sports news, on BFBS, and was disappointed with the result, as I expected the rest of us were.
I saw a few new players started, and noticed Porter was dropped to the bench. I’m still not sure about Porter, I know before I came away, he was getting quite a lot of stick off the fans, who think he’s not up to the standard that we need. I still think we are lacking something substantive up front, and would have thought NC might have dipped into the kitty a bit to bring a proven goal scorer in during the January window. Surprisingly Maguire’s still the top scorer for us!
I know we have 2 or 3 games in hand over Notts County and Shrewsbury, but it doesn`t half look precarious being second from bottom of League one. I was hoping we could have a decent season and push for the play offs again, but it looks like that’s out of the window! Mind you, I suppose you can`t blame NC when he was brought in to steady the ship. He inherited Weir’s team, and has had to work with them until the transfer window, and this is when I was looking forward to seeing if he was going to bring anyone in.
Anyway, we have Fulham away on Tuesday, and then Shrewsbury at home next Saturday. Shrewsbury will be a big game, seeing as though they are two places above us, and one point in front. If we can win this, we’ll be able to push on up, and leave them in the mire instead.
As always though, I`ll be following from afar for the next few months, and will be hoping we can put some of the effort in that we showed against Villa and Fulham, and grab some decent results.
