Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says he is at a loss as to understand the performance after seeing his side lose 3-0 at Crewe Alexandra.
United were never at the races as they lost to their fellow strugglers, inflicting the heaviest defeat of Clough`s short reign in charge of the club.
Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, ‘We’re just at a little bit of a loss. We don’t know where that came from today – the first 45 minutes especially.
‘I’m incredibly disappointed with the result.
‘In the second half we had a go, but if you waste 45 minutes of the game you don’t really deserve anything from it.’
Chuks Aneke scored twice in the first half for Crewe and Byron Moore added a third in injury time as Crewe eased their own relegation worries.
The defeat for United sees them slip into the bottom two of League One.
