Fair Draw

A draw with top of the table Leyton Orient was fair on Saturday I suppose. It`s good that we are starting to accumulate a decent run of no defeats.

I was particularly pleased that Conor Coady got on the score sheet on Saturday. The lad has expressed a wish to remain at Bramall Lane, and is enjoying first team football. He`s a good prospect, and even though he is on loan from Liverpool, it would be nice to see him stay with us for a decent amount of time.

I believe some loan signings are spot on, especially the youngsters, who are keen to get into first team football, as well as gain experience from it.

NC has been loaning out players last week, with the loan departures of Westlake and Williams to Mansfield and Scunthorpe respectively. It will give our fringe players a bit of time to get match fit, as well as trim down on the large numbers of first team players.

I hope that we can continue this unbeaten run, and climb further from the bottom places in the table. We are currently out of the drop zone, on goal difference, but looking at the table, there`s only 5 points or so to a mid table position. This doesn`t seem impossible, with home fixtures over the festive period.

Back to basics at the Lane seem to be producing points, and NC has said it will take a while to get to know the squad. It will be interesting to see if he does bring anyone in during the January transfer window. Having said that though he is being tough on discipline. Brandy hasn`t made an appearance as yet since his suspension, and Clough has said that he`s only seen him play for ten minutes since he took the post. I hope this doesn`t affect the player`s morale, even though it was his own fault for being dismissed.

I wonder who supporters would most like to see come to the lane on a permanent basis. I think the midfield could do with shoring up a bit – an experienced central midfielder would come in handy as a full time replacement for McD, and someone who could create a good partnership with Doyle.

As many others, I am looking forward to the coming matches with NC in charge. He seems to have the no nonsense approach that his father had, and I hope we can lift ourselves higher up the table during the upcoming fixtures.

As always, UTB!
