Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says the point at Leyton Orient is a big boost as they stretched their unbeaten run to three games.

The blades battled to a 1-1 draw at promotion chasing Orient and Clough was also happy with the defensive display that was only breached by an unstoppable volley.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “It was all going according to plan until another screamer denied us the three points.

“I thought we defended brilliantly today and George Long was in outstanding form and kept us in it in the first half.

“It is a big boost for us to move out of the relegation zone. We have three home games coming up in the next four games and we are building up some confidence with our unbeaten run.”

Conor Coady opened the scoring for United when he was found in time and space to fire home halfway through the second half, his first goal for the club since arriving on loan from Liverpool in the summer.

Dean Cox equalised for Orient with just eight minutes remaining when he fired past Long from the edge of the area.

The point for the blades does move them out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
