Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says the win over Nottingham Forest was a brilliant performance as they came from behind to book their place in the last eight of the FA Cup.

Despite struggling in League One this season, United continued their giant killing act in the FA Cup as they saw off their championship opponents, who had come into the game unbeaten in their last sixteen games.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “It was a brilliant performance. It wasn`t just the result; it really was a brilliant performance.

“Even when we were one down at half time, I told the lads just to keep going because we had created chances.

“I think over the course of the game we deserved the win.”

It looked like United were heading out of the competition as they trailed at half time to a Jamie Paterson goal.

United hit back in the second half as on loan Liverpool midfielder Conor Coady levelled half way through the second half.

The game looked to be heading for a replay until Greg Halford was penalised for a handball inside the area and Chris Porter, who had only been on the pitch two minutes, stepped up to put United ahead from the penalty spot.

There was still time for Porter to grab his second of the game to send the vast majority of the 25,000 inside Bramall Lane wild.
