Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough refused to rule out moves for Leicester City striker Martyn Waghorn or Derby County defender Keiron Freeman.

Clough is still to add to his squad since the January transfer window opened earlier this week and he says he has an extensive list of players he is keen to bring to Bramall Lane.

Waghorn has recently returned to Leicester after spending three-months on loan with championship strugglers Millwall and Clough admits he has spoken with Leicester about the striker. Speaking on BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “Every championship striker who is not starting at the moment is on our radar and there is also one or two in League One.

“We have spoken to Leicester to see if they are letting anyone go out, it is usually just a general enquiry.”

Clough has also been linked with Freeman in recent days. Clough signed Freeman during his time at Derby County, when signing him from near neighbours Nottingham Forest.

Freeman started this season as a regular in the Derby side under Clough before his dismissal in September and after failing to make an appearance for new boss Steve McLaren, he joined League One side Notts County on loan.

Speaking about Freeman, Clough said, “He is on the bench in the championship. We know Kieran from our time at Derby and he is a good player.

“We have quite an extensive list and there are a lot of names on it.”

The duo joins fellow championship players Jonathan Stead (Huddersfield Town) and Conor Sammon (Derby County) to be linked with a move to Bramall Lane since the transfer window opened.
