Sheffield United defender Sean McGinty looks set to join Mansfield Town on loan.

The young defender signed a two-year deal with United in the summer following his release by Manchester United in the summer.

He has made just three appearances for the blades since his arrival and he has not featured since the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy clash at Scunthorpe United in early September.

Despite not playing regularly for United, he has been a regular inclusion in the Republic of Ireland under-21 side and he looks set to join the League Two side on loan to gain regular first team football.

Fellow United defender Darryl Westlake is currently on loan at Mansfield and he is due to return to Bramall Lane after their game at Exeter City on Saturday.

Joe Ironside (FC Halifax), Elliott Whitehouse (York City) and Callum McFadzean (Chesterfield) are all set to return to United next week after spells away from the club on loan.

Marcus Williams returned to Bramall Lane earlier this week after his loan spell at Scunthorpe United ended on January 1st.
