Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough felt the 1-0 win at MK Dons on Saturday was the best performance of the season.

United made it a seventh straight win in all competitions as the confidence continues to grow.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “We said after the win at Gillingham that it was our best performance of the season but it has been superseded today.

“We thought we could have had a second goal and we felt our performance deserved one.”

Stefan Scougall scored the only goal of the game halfway through the first half as he latched onto a through ball by Conor Coady.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who was seen as one for the future when he made the move from Scottish Championship side Livingston in January, is proving to be an inspired signing by Clough having cemented his place in the starting eleven. His goal on Saturday made it two goals in eight games since his arrival.

It is another quick turnaround for United, who now face Peterborough at Bramall Lane on Tuesday before they can start to look forward to their FA Cup quarter-final against Charlton Athletic next weekend.
