Saturday’s goalscoring hero Ched Evans has heaped praise on boss Gary Speed, claiming that the new manager has turned the club around already.

Evans, a current Welsh international has spoken of the mutual respect at the club, something that was perhaps missing during the previous regime.

“I get on with the manager, but everybody at the club does because of who he is.

“If you look at his record, he`s done everything. He can coach you.

“Because he`s been there and done everything, he gets the respect he deserves. He`s a top manager and he knows what he`s going on about.”

Evans also spoke at the difference in training, with a much more focused session ahead of upcoming games.

“The training`s different because everything we`re doing is about the game coming up. His views are different to Kevin Blackwell, and he knows what to do.

A portion of the Blades faithful have been quick to criticise Evans this season already, and the former Manchester City frontman explains why his performances may have been frustrating at times.

“I`m not 100 per cent match fit yet. When you go away on international duty, you`re not always working as hard as you should be, you`re eating twice the amount as well.

“You have your breakfast, then your lunch, then after training you have some more. It`s all laid on for you, and you have to go and show your face.

Both Speed and the United fans will be hoping this goal kickstarts Evans’ career at Bramall Lane after a sluggish first 14 months.
