Paul Ifill returned from illness to net in Sheffield United`s 3-1 reserve win away at Bolton last night.

Ifill, who enjoys something of a love-hate relationship with the Blades Kop, played in United`s opening day fixture against Liverpool but was ruled out of the Tottenham and Fulham games through illness. Keith Gillespie took Ifill`s place at Spurs but made way for Nick Montgomery in the 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage. As neither made an impression, Ifill will be optimistic of regaining his place in Neil Warnock`s starting line-up for the visit of Blackburn Rovers on Saturday week.

Bolton, made up of mostly Academy players, took the lead last night but United drew level through a Christian Nade strike. And soon afterwards the Blades went in front when Ifill smashed the ball past keeper Ian Walker following a fine through ball from Alan Quinn. Another new boy, David Sommeil, rounded off the win by putting an experienced United team 3-1 up.

Sheffield United: Ian Bennett, David Sommeil, Alan Wright, Mikele Leigertwood, Chris Lucketti (Evan Horwood), Rob Kozluk, Paul Ifill (James Ashmore), Nicky Law, Neil Shipperley (Jordan Robertson), Christian Nade, Alan Quinn

Subs Not Used: Jamie Annerson, Ryan Gyaki
