Bryan Robson was obviously a happy man after the Blades picked up their first three points of the season against his old team:

‘This first win means a lot to the club and to the players… in some ways it was a must win match.

‘It was a pleasing performance. We worked terrifically hard and challenged well for the aerial stuff, but we played some good football.

‘We did not want to drop too many points behind the leaders and this victory has kept us in touch.’

Meanwhile, Baggies boss Tony Mowbray was disappointed in the way his side conceded the all important goal:

‘It is very disappointing. All week we’ve been prepared as we knew they’d be putting the ball into him (Beattie) whenever they could.

‘And then we let their best header of the ball free in the box. It’s hard to see us concede that sort of goal.’
