It might seem like a bit of a simple and obvious request, but when you think about it, it does seem like something that needs to be stressed.

According to a report from The Star, Sheffield United are set to demand that when and if football resumes, that fixtures are played in the same order that they were originally laid out with before the season was halted back in the middle of March, with Blades boss Chris Wilder stating:

“I think it’s got to be in the same order. I don’t think it would be right if there’s changes. If people are asking me, then we should stick to seeing it through in the saw [SIC] way we would have done if all of this hadn’t happened.”

That would mean that the Blades would restart their campaign with an away game against Newcastle United before back-to-back-to-back games against Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs.

It’s obvious that there are going to be some changes when it comes to the season getting back underway, the fact that all games are behind closed doors being the most obvious one, with suggestions going as far as putting games at neutral venues even being discussed at one stage.

Do you agree with Wilder's comments?

Yes

No

But Wilder makes a great point in all of this. Whilst there are going to be some changes, the fixture schedule is one of the things that has to stay as true to its original form as possible. It wouldn’t be fair for instance if we were made to play all of our games against the top teams in the division as listed earlier, and then have to play Chelsea on top of that afterwards because of a fixture shake-up.

What about you? Do you agree with Wilder’s comments on the matter? Or do you think that a few tweaks here and there won’t make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things?
