The Shields Gazette reports that Diego De Girolamo is destined for the Premier League next season.
We now know that De Girolamo, linked with Juventus, will leave Sheffield United in the summer. He’s back with York for the time being but his long-term future could well be with Sunderland?
De Girolamo has decided that he feels it’s time to go to ‘pastures new’ with his existing contract being played out at Bootham Crescent, when this ends he’ll then complete a move to another club.
We’ll gain compensation for him and the suggestion is that Sunderland are the club that will take him to the topflight, which is a level the 19-year-old Italian U20 international has always been destined.
It’s a shame that he’ll not go there with us but that’s football for you….
