The Blades tore Burnley to pieces in the second half as they put the Clarets to the sword in a 5-2 win leaving them on a three-game winning streak.
My Player Ratings
Wes Foderingham 6:
Didn’t have much to do yesterday. Made a big save towards the end of the game to deny any hope of a late comeback for Burnley. Partly to blame for Burnley’s second goal.
Anel Ahmedhodzic 9:
Two-goal contributions from the Bosnian yesterday – an assist for McBurnie’s first goal and sweeping home the fourth. He also hit the bar before Robinson netted his first goal of the season.
John Egan 8:
Was solid at the back for most of the game. Won his fair share in the air in the opposition box.
Jack Robinson 8:
Loads of people are blaming Robinson for Burnley’s second, but he was not helped by his experienced goalkeeper who allowed a pressing trigger to develop. His long throw-ins into the box all game were part of the reason why the Blades were so dominant in the opposition box.
George Baldock 7:
Made runs in behind the defence all game allowing the switch pass to be on. Was involved in McBurnie’s second goal from a similar move. Solid defensively.
Enda Stevens 6:
On the ball, Stevens was clever with his passing and combination play. However, it was his defending up against Benson that took the shine off his performance; he was beaten too easily on several occasions.
Oliver Norwood 9:
His rotations off the ball yesterday were outstanding, always offered himself and got United progressing their play. Lots of switch balls and over-the-top passes changed the angle of attack. His delivery into the box was first class.
John Fleck 7:
His aggression helped United get control of the game early. He did a lot of the dirty work in midfield yesterday which freed up Norwood to dictate as well as he did.
Ben Osborn 7:
His activity was needed in this game. His energy helped United’s press and defensive shape. A much-improved performance yesterday.
Iliman Ndiaye 9:
His pressing and defending from the front planted doubt into the minds of the Burnley players from the start; whenever they played out from the back Ndiaye was always lurking with McBurnie. His goal got United back in it. Some unreal pieces of skill and hold-up play.
Oli McBurnie 10:
Sheffield United won this game because of Oli McBurnie’s presence in my opinion. He was a nuisance all game and he caused havoc in the Burnley penalty area at every given opportunity. Two goals and an assist for the big man.
