Keith Gillespie has endured a nightmare last 24 hours representing his country.
The Blades winger not only conceded the own goal that led to his side’s 2-1 defeat to Iceland on Wednesday night, but was then involved in a ‘brawl’ on the flight home.
It seems that Gillespie and West Ham defender George McCartney were involved in a ‘verbal exchange’ which led to ‘punches being thrown’ prior to the flight taking off.
The incident is being investigated by the IFA, with chief executive Howard Wells telling BBC Sport:
‘As I understand it there was an altercation, so we need to look into it and establish the facts.
‘The manager didn’t see exactly what happened because I think it happened before he got on the plane, but we’ve spoken and we’ll do what we need to do.’
