Sheffield United goalkeeper Mark Bunn drew the plaudits from manager Kevin Blackwell after his performance last night, who claimed he’d bounced back in the correct manner.

Bunn, who had received some criticism at the weekend for allowing Steinsson’s shot on the angle to creep in at the near post, was on form in Tuesday night’s victory, including a penalty save from Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

‘That was great stop and he is really starting to blossom which will be to Blackburn’s benefit when he goes back at the end of the season.

‘We’ve had to change the back four a lot through no fault of our own so it is credit to him that he has found his form in such a period.

‘He had to accept a bit of the blame at Bolton on Saturday but he was back on it tonight. Earlier in the season he had a bad run which we couldn’t really help with but he saved a penalty against Peterborough and has gone on since then.

‘As a professional you always have a point to prove and if that is what he felt then he has answered the question in recent weeks.’

With Paddy Kenny’s suspension set to end as the season comes to a close, and Ian Bennett switching his focus to coaching, Bunn’s recent run of form could leave Blackwell keeping the Rovers stopper full-time.
