Sheffield United fans have been told to get ready for a busy summer of transfers ahead, despite a distinct lack of activity recently.

Four contract renewals are still under way with Gary Naysmith, Richard Cresswell, Nick Montgomery and Stephen Quinn all negotiating new deals.

Meanwhile, the Blades transfer of Daniel Bogdanovic from Barnsley is days from completion, but with rumours circulating the move is out of his hands, Kevin Blackwell is yet to speculate.

Blackwell has said a number of times that last year’s play-off campaign hampered United’s Summer activity, and the club would hit the ground running this time around, but it hasn’t been the case. Chief exec Trevor Birch said:

‘It will be another difficult year for clubs apart from those at the very top.

‘You do not want to jeopardise your future so you try to avoid being a Portsmouth, Hull or Palace – or even Preston by the sound of it.

‘You can see how fragile it all is and that applies everywhere outside of the limitless funds of the top Premier League clubs.

‘I appreciate some of our suporters become restless at what they perceive to be a lack of transfer activity but I assure them there are plenty of discussions going on behind the scenes.’
