Not only will Gary Speed line up against an old teammate in the dugout tomorrow, but many of the players (along with Speed) will also see a familiar face on the pitch in the shape of Matt Kilgallon.

Kilgallon left the Blades last season after much speculation, and despite his high profile move to Sunderland, the former Leeds man never managed to make an impression on the Black Cats side, making just seven appearances.

With the new regulations in place for the upcoming Premier League season, Kilgallon found himself without a squad number and has been allowed to join ‘Boro on a season long loan deal.

He could start the game tomorrow, opposite his former partner Chris Morgan. The Blades skipper could have a new defensive partner himself should Nyron Nosworthy be passed fit for the nPower Championship encounter at the Riverside.

Nosworthy, who joined United, also on a season long loan deal has missed the opening two games with an injury, but it’s expected he could come back into contention, to replace Jonny Ertl at right back.
