Sheffield United’s great start to the season could result in more teams coming to Bramall Lane to frustrate the Blades according to Keith Gillespie. In other words, if they can’t compete, they will try to ‘spoil’ to get a draw!
Gillespie made his 3rd start of the Championship campaign in the 0-0 draw against Cardiff. He said the game wasn’t the best:
‘It was pretty ordinary, but we can’t just expect to turn up and win games. It was difficult and speaking to the lads afterwards they think we could have lost this type of game last season. We had the bulk of the possession, but we didn’t create much and there was not many chances. They tried to frustrate us and catch us on the break and fair play to them for that.’
He added, in an interview with the official site:
‘Cardiff set their stall out and we struggled to get behind them. They have been on a good run and have worked hard. Clubs are going to come here to frustrate us. Everyone wants to beat you when you are top of the league, you are there to be shot at, but we have a lot of experience and character and know what we have to do.’
They can frustrate all they want, we are still top of the league!
