Sheffield United earned a point at Bramall Lane in another action-packed game which saw the Blades go 2-0 down from individual errors.

Teemu Pukki scored two goals early on. They were cancelled out by Ben Osborn and substitute Oli McBurnie. Adam Davies saved a penalty late on to deny Pukki his hattrick and to win a point for United, after being at fault for the first goal.

Paul Heckingbottom made four changes on Saturday. Sharp, Fleck, Brewster and McAtee all returned to the starting XI, as Ndiaye, McBurnie and Doyle all dropped to the bench where they were joined by exciting youngster Buyabu.

It was an unthinkable start to the game when just three minutes in the Blades fell behind as Davies took his time on the ball, Pukki tackled and deflected the ball into the Blades net.

On 16 minutes things went from bad to worse for United when a long ball over the top caused Ahmedhodzic all sorts of problems, and Pukki out-strengthed the Bosnian and it saw him bearing down on goal and he finished exquisitely.

The pressure was really on the Blades now with the Bramall Lane faithful letting their frustrations be heard, and Norwich should’ve gone 3-0 up if it wasn’t for an excellent save by Davies to deny the in-form Sargent.

Brewster had the first real chance for United but he headed Osborns cross over the bar. Osborn had an effort from distance which took a deflection and caused Gunn some trouble as he scrambled down towards the bottom right-hand corner to tip it away.

During the half-time interval, Heckingbottom brought Ndiaye on for McAtee and he sent the Blades out 5 minutes early to get warmed up for the second half.

Hanley and Sharp had a scuffle where Hanley kicked out at Sharp which saw the Scottish international booked. Shortly after Ndiaye had an effort blocked and then he stretched and stabbed at the rebound only for it to go over.

In the 62nd minute, United pulled a goal back when the ball came across to an unmarked Osborn at the back post, and he kept his composure to slot the ball home.

10 minutes later United found the equaliser when Norwood launched a ball up towards Egan who headed it down to United’s number nine McBurnie who bundled the ball over the line.

United’s in-form goalscorer will be disappointed that he couldn’t win it for the Blades when he rose high at the back post from an Osborn cross but his header was straight at Gunn.

Norwich City had a chance to win the game when Egan was penalised for a foul inside the box. With a chance to score his hattrick Pukki stepped up, but Davies guessed the right way and won a point for the Blades.

Seven minutes of injury time gave United renewed hope of winning the contest, but Gunn’s heroics in City’s goal denied McBurnie with another header.
