Robinson told Radio Sheffield only days ago that a fee had been agreed with Manchester United full back Phil Bardsley and it was now only a matter of agreeing personal terms. Perhaps he should have told the player!
Bardsley, also speaking to Radio Sheffield, had the following to say on the matter ‘By my eyes it’s still a mile away if I’m quite honest. The clubs might have agreed something but I haven’t. No one has said anything to me in terms of what’s happening so we’ll just have to wait and see. I want to keep doing well for Sheffield United. Obviously you’ve got to consider your options, it’s a big move, big career change, so we’ll wait and see.’
He sounds about as keen to come to the Lane as he is to track back when he plays. My opinion is that he can to Sunderland (his rumoured destination) with our thanks for his loan spell and with a sigh of relief following his departure that we haven’t done a million quid in on him. He’s a decent enough player but his distribution is hit and miss and he tends to look more than a little reluctant to chase back when the opposition break.
I’m looking forward to the return of Derek Geary for some more whole-hearted displays although I’m starting to worry that his absence is dragging on and there is little news regarding a comeback.
