Paul Heckingbottom spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon as he spoke about Tuesday night’s game, and he previewed the Stoke City game.

The Blades will be looking to bounce back with a win at the weekend, and a chance to extend their away form to make it four away victories in the last four away games.

But a real big blow was dealt to United’s chances when in-form striker Oli McBurnie picked up a yellow card on Tuesday night, for his protests about the penalty incident, resulting in a match ban.

Heckingbottom is far from pleased with the Scottish forward:

“He had already apologised to the players before I saw him. I understand that moment with the fans [Preston], it does a lot of good but it’s me that suffers. He’s a striker in form. You want him and need him” [SUTV]

McBurnie isn’t the only person the Blades manager is furious with. Heckingbottom is not impressed with the way officials have been dealing with time-wasting antics.

United’s manager said: “We had 66% possession, so with the five minutes added on that’s 95 minutes. They had 19 goal kicks and took 30 seconds [for] each one. They had 32 minutes of the ball, it was only in play for 20-odd minutes”

continued…

“Ref stopped the game for 13 minutes against Birmingham and put 7 up, it can’t be right”, he told SUTV.

The Blades travel to Stoke City at the weekend hoping to get back in the win column, and hoping to extend their away form.

Although Saturday’s hosts aren’t in a good position in the league, Heckingbottom believes that Stoke has improved their performances since Alex Neil has come in.
