Maguire Still Key To Clough’s Plans

Nigel Clough has moved to insist that Harry Maguire is still very much ‘key to his plans’ and he would like to keep him but also knows that if it’s best for Sheffield United he might have to go.

As far as Clough is concerned ‘nothing has changed’ as far as the 21-year-olds status with the club, and importance goes, but he has conceded in the Sheffield Star that if an offer is made that benefits the club and allows two or three players to be signed as a result he might be sold.

Ideally though he doesn’t want to have to ‘make that decision’ with the contract offer to him still very much on the table but a decision not to sign that is one that he, and his advisers, have opted against.

Clough also moved to stress that players signed, and others linked to a move to Bramall Lane, aren’t being viewed as replacements for Maguire that isn’t why they’re being signed.
