Sheffield United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after the midweek action.

The performance by George Long in the two one victory on Tuesday evening over Shrewsbury Town at the Greenhous Meadow was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Long was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A first-half penalty save by Long helped Sheffield United on their way to three points at struggling Shrewsbury Town. The Blades` stopper saved Kyle Vassell`s spot-kick, and produced several more stops as United recorded a 2-1 triumph.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Long for his recognition, but the most important thing about the midweek match was of course the win.
