It’s now a done deal, concerns over the future of George Long at Sheffield United can be pushed to one side as he’s now agreed an extension to his deal.

This extension hasn’t technically been signed as he’s on holiday but this will be signed when the England U21 international returns from this break.

When he does a new two-year deal will be signed off.

Chris Wilder basically said if Long (and anyone else) didn’t want to stay at Bramall Lane he wouldn’t hold them against their will, they could go and other would come in, but Long’s decided he wants to be part of the plans of the new boss.

22-year-old Long, who made his debut at 17 for United, made 38 appearances last season as he established himself as our no.1.

The 22-year-old will now stay until 2018 at least, which is great news isn’t it!
