Leon Britton could be on the verge of a return to Swansea City if reports today are to be believed.

The midfielder signed for United on a free transfer in the Summer, after supposedly beating off interest from Wigan Athletic, but since the departure of former boss Paulo Sousa, it appears the Essex-born player could return.

Britton has featured 26 times this season, but was left out of Saturday’s goalless draw at Coventry City. Brendan Rodgers, the former Reading boss who took over at the Liberty Stadium in the summer, commented on his disappointment at not being able to work with Britton, but that could be about to change.

A fee has not been mentioned in the stories, and whether Adams would settle for simply making funds available from the departure is yet to be seen, but one thing is for sure, that United would be losing one of the best ball playing members of the squad.
