Putting in the work without necessarily having the stats to show for it.
That seemed to be the message that Blades forward David McGoldrick was sending out ahead of this weekend’s game against Chelsea. McGoldrick hasn’t put up the greatest figures this season, with only two goals and two assists to his name so far.
It’s something that I have been quite critical of in the past, and to some extent I still am now as I’d like to see more tangible results out of him, but he doesn’t seem to be too concerned about that, and neither do his teammates.
Speaking to the press, McGoldrick sent out a very strong message about his lack of goals this season:
“People say you’ve not scored but it’s give me no sleepless nights. If I’m fit I play most the time and it shows that the players, the manager and the fans believe in me.”
Messages which brought on a rallying cry from the Blades fans on social media, who showed their support for the effort that he’s been putting in, even if it hasn’t always resulted in the ball going into the back of the net.
Anyone that gets stuck in and plays with a smile on their face is a legend at the Lane. Top class united player

What about you? What do you make of McGoldrick’s goal record this year?
