Matthew Kilgallon was a surprise inclusion in Neil Warnock’s squad on Saturday but the defender did an admirable job on his debut.

Kilgallon was put in at left back and seemed to comfortably fit into the Blades side.

The ex-Leeds defender told the official site, ‘I’d not played for three months but the gaffer asked me to do a job at left back and I think I did OK, all things considered.

‘We were unlucky at Bolton. We played really well. We are making chances- we nearly reached double figures at Bolton, and if we start to take them we’ll be flying.

‘The team spirit here is great, we are playing good football. Everyone in the squad will play their part in the last games. It is going to be a scrap till the end but I think we are equipped to deal with it.’
