Another good win for us today! I was looking at the scores on the BBC Final Score programme, and was impressed with us winning 2-0 towards the end of the match.
2-1 is a decent result against a team above us, and helps us close the gap a bit. Hopefully we can keep to the winning ways and get some more results under our belts.
I was watching the Spurs game on BFBS (British Forces TV), and I reckon we`ve a good chance of beating them when they visit us at the Lane later on this month! Their back four were absolutely poor and I reckon put up against the likes of Campbell-Ryce, Flynn and Murphy, we`ll cause them some real problems.
I think Premier clubs have a different way of playing matches. I`ve disliked Premiership games, as I think that money has spoilt the game in that league. When a team scores they tend to sit back behind the ball because their goal is worth so much money, and I reckon this has taken the sting out of the competitive game. Championship and below leagues are much more value for money I think, more attacking play, and far more competitive football. It just goes to show that a team like ours, which isn`t the most expensive, can come up against the “big boys” and cause upsets all the time. I know we have always been regarded as the underdogs but it just goes to show that we can take the game to them. The ticket prices at BDTBL haven`t changed that much since the early 90`s and I look at some of the Premier teams who charge in excess of sixty pounds for a match day ticket and dismayed that what was once a “poor man`s” game is moving away from that ethos.
Anyway, hopefully I will be travelling home from West Africa next weekend, and am looking forward to some cooler weather and getting back on the Kop for the rest of the season!
