Sheffield United meet Rotherham United for the first time competitively in almost seven years. After already beating Burton in the first round the Blades will be looking to overcome their second league two opponents of the competition. Both teams will be looking at this tie to reinvigorate their respective seasons that have seemed to stall over the previous couple of weeks. For the Blades it marks their last competitive match before the steel city derby and a win and good performance is imperative if they are to go into the match with any form of confidence.

Vital Quotes:

Managers

Danny Wilson- The game is one which we want to win because it is a local derby and there is a lot of pride involved, plus it is a chance to get into the next round of the competition…we will play the strongest side available to us at the time.

Andy Scott (on the SUFC vacancy last year) felt I had a good chance of getting it, to be honest. I felt I was the right man for the job at the time but they opted for the experience of Micky Adams and the rest is history…It`s a fantastic club and I always, and will continue to, look out for their results. Being your first professional club, it holds a special place in your heart

Rotherham Utd Team News:

Former Blades youth product and Rotherham skipper Ryan Cresswell will miss out tonight due to injury. He will be replaced by Jonny Mullins who looks to make his first Millers appearance in six months. With a relative assortment of riches in the goalkeeping position it is believed Scott will use his second choice keeper Andy Warrington a place between the sticks tonight. Chris Morgan, Jahannes Ertl and Andy Taylor remain long term absentees.

Player to watch: Gareth Evans

Gareth Evans- This former Bradford player that has found himself on the wing during recent weeks has an eye for goal and been recieving rave reviews from Rotherham fans recently. Expect him to get involve in much of the Millers attacking moves.

Sheffield Utd Team News:

After issuing a statement of intent today around his aims in the Jonstone’s paint trophy it is likely Danny Wilson may start with many first team players. It is expected that Blades captain Nick Montgomery will come back into the team after being out since August. With a lack of goals plaguing the Blades strikers in the last few weeks and with a 12 day lay off till the Wednesday game, expect Wilson to try and allow his strikers to find their form tonight.Chris Morgan, Johannes Ertl and Andy Taylor remain long term absentees.

Player to watch: Stephen Quinn

Stephen Quinn- A player with much ability that has at times frustrated United fans with unfufilled potential seems to be realising some of what the Blades got excited about when they saw the fiery ginger midfielder burst onto the scene almost half a decade ago. Returning to a club that he once played for on loan, Quinny will be wanting to prove a point and should have the class to do this.
