It’s All Coming Together

When Sheffield United lined up at QPR on Tuesday night, only four of the team were at Bramall Lane last season, but Kevin Blackwell believes they’re finally beginning to come together.

‘We looked a decent side out there and it is up to this group of players as to how far they want to go.

‘But we won’t get carried away by the good run, just as we didn’t when we were on a bad one.’

It means the Blades have lost just one game in the last eleven, a run which has seen them close in on the Championship play-offs, and with the injury nightmare at an end, it leaves the manager in a much better position for the second half of the season.

‘If felt good when I was on the touchline at QPR and looked back at the bench to see players like Henderson and Ward on it.

‘With that quality at your disposal a manager is able to exercise options, as well as giving a player a rest – like Wardy – who has just recovered from injury.’

However, Lee Williamson’s early departure from the game was enforced after taking a ‘whack on the ankle’, especially considering how his season has been marred by injury already since his arrival.
