Is enough, enough. Is it time for Paul Heckingbottom to leave his managerial post at Sheffield United following the Blades humiliating 5-0 defeat at fellow relegation candidates, Burnley.
Sheffield United lost 5-0 at Burnley, who claimed their first home victory of the season.
This defeat is a series of disappointing results and performances endured thus far this season. They have already recorded an unacceptable 8-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United and a 5-0 loss at Arsenal. They next host Liverpool next Wednesday, who could cause equal destruction.
However, as a supporter, I do not lay any blame on the manager whose transfer resources have been pathetic for a football club coming into the Premier League. They unarguably lost their best three players in Illiman Ndiaye, Sander Berge, and Billy Sharp – whilst, in the process, spending approximately £ 30 million on recruitment. A pitiful sum for a top-flight club.
Ideally, it would be beneficial for the club to have a chairman worthy of the Premier League and for the football club to find a proper investor who will financially support the on-field side of the club.
However, this may (possibly) be Heckingbottom’s final game in charge of the Blades. Whilst the supporters understand his situation, how long can this continue?
