United’s joint top goalscorer Oli McBurnie was seen wearing a protective boot after last night’s game at Bramall Lane.

The Scottish forward already has plans to have surgery on a hernia during the world cup break, and United have planned it so that he will not miss a game after the world cup if all things go to plan.

Paul Heckingbottom stated that McBurnie had “rolled his ankle” during United’s 1-0 defeat to local rivals Rotherham United. This has sparked growing levels of concern for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff. Are the physios taking extra precautions with this injury, or is this more serious than it seems?

McBurnie has scored nine goals in the Championship this season, but taking away his goals, he has offered United a serious box threat and his ability to hold the ball up and link up with Iliman Ndiaye has been very effective.

The Blades may have to rely on Billy Sharp at the weekend, who came on again on Tuesday night, and again he offered very little.

However, Paul Heckingbottom could call on Reda Khadra to start to give United a different dimension in attack altogether. Heckingbottom has handed limited minutes to Khadra so far during his loan spell with the Blades.
