Sheffield United’s winning streak was brought to an end on Tuesday night as local rivals Rotherham United spoiled the Blades chances of jumping to the top of the Championship, handing them a 1-0 loss.

My Player Ratings

Wes Foderingham 5:

Made a couple of good saves to tip over the bar. Couldn’t do anything for the goal.

Anel Ahmedhodzic 5:

At times it seemed like Ahmedhodzic was the only player capable of progressing attacks down the right. However, he looked low on energy. He fashioned a chance for the Blades via a cutback.

John Egan 5:

Had a great chance to score but fired it straight at the keeper. Poor positioning for the Wiles goal, leaving him with acres of space in the box. Wasn’t brave enough in possession in the build-up phase.

Jack Robinson 3:

Robinson was at fault for the goal. He also had plenty of opportunities to be braver and play with more precision on the ball, but chose the easier and less effective pass – to hoof it long up to McBurnie, subsequently surrendering possession time and time again.

George Baldock 5:

Can’t recall him doing anything good, or anything bad. Another game where he offered energy but nothing else in an attacking sense.

Enda Stevens 4:

Stevens is looking out of sync right now. On a few occasions, he gets the ball down the left, makes a pass back to a midfielder and leaves them no option – he should be either rotating to create a better angle for a return pass or should be looking to run in behind.

Oliver Norwood 5:

An average performance from Norwood, but it was mainly down to the Blades not finding any form of rhythm. Couldn’t maintain effective possession for long enough.

John Fleck 4:

Went off injured in the first half. Didn’t see anything from him in an attacking sense. United looked to press an aggressive man-to-man approach in midfield when Fleck was on the pitch.

Ben Osborn 4:

Poor on the ball, as per usual. Runs around like a headless chicken all game, providing a real burst of energy but no quality.

Oli McBurnie 6:

Was United’s only goal threat. Hold-up play was inconsistent at times. Won just over 50% of his aerial duels. Couldn’t get his link-up play with Ndiaye going.

Iliman Ndiaye 5:

United’s lack of a foothold in the game suppressed Ndiaye in the attack. The game was far from free-flowing, leaving Ndiaye non-impactful in the game.

Subs:

McAtee 4, (Fleck, 20)

Basham 5, (Ahmedhodzic, 68)

Sharp 5 (Stevens, 68)

Khadra 5 (McAtee, 80)
