Sheffield United defender Leigh Bromby has claimed that he would still like to see Tommy Smith in a Blades shirt.

It’s believed United had a £1.8million offer accepted for the striker last month, but Smith rejected personal terms, instead opting to wait on an improved bid from Reading.

However, Bromby, whose current side face the 29 year old on Saturday, has expressed his admiration for the ex Derby man.

‘Tommy’s a fantastic player who would be a great addition to our squad,’

‘If there’s still time, I’d love to see Tommy here. He’d definitely fit in here. He has a great work ethic besides being a talented player. I didn’t realise how good he was until I played with him. I know one thing – I’d rather play with him than against him.’
