Picking at the carcass.
That’s probably the best way to describe something like this.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Sheffield United are one of a number of teams interested in bringing in Brentford forward Ollie Watkins after the West London side failed to get promoted last night. His reported £18m release clause is obviously making him a rather enticing prospect, especially in comparison to other forwards out there, like Leicester City chasing Francisco Trincão for £45m for instance.
With 26 goals in the Championship this past season, you can make the argument that he’s outgrown the division after three years in it and with a fee that low, with the money that floats around the Premier League, it’s not exactly a massive gamble to take.
How much will Sheffield United spend this summer in total?
£50m or more
Less than £50m
These Blades fans on social media discussed the idea of bringing him on board, with a variety of responses.
If we get beat for him after paying 22 for McBurnie I won’t be happy obviously money will be tighter this time around but he could literally be the piece in the puzzle that push’s us up the the table if I was wilder I’d go all in to get in to the lane

That's why Dean Smith was there last night, probably started talking to him 10 minutes after the game finished. As said in a previous tweet Fulham kept him quiet all night, will be much harder in the Premier League

I wanted him last year. Looks quality. Him and Benrahma are both really good players but maybe Watkins would be better for our system

Feel like this is another maupay. Interest early on but not much else. Hopefully our league finish outweighs the lure of London.

Signing Watkins, Matty Cash and keep one more year Hendo on loan would be absolutly class

What about you? Would you be interested in us bringing in Watkins?
