Paul Heckingbottom labelled Tuesday night’s away victory as the “worst win” during his time as the Sheffield United manager.

United was sloppy and lethargic in the first half as Bristol City stuck the pedal to the metal, but they didn’t create a single clear-cut chance through their positive high-energy play.

The Blades made clear tactical changes at half time, playing with much improved progressive play and combination play in the final third early in the second half. And they went ahead when Ndiaye nodded the ball into the goal from a few yards out, following McAtee’s cross.

Heckingbottom later described the victory as “the worst win” he has recorded as the Blades boss, as he told SUTV. “They were the better team in loads of departments but we defended our box very well and it does feel nice,” he further explained.

Sheffield United moved to 3rd in the table following last night’s win on the road. The Blades now enter Saturday’s clash against promotion-contenders Burnley on a two-game winning streak.

They will have Tommy Doyle back, along with Anel Ahmedhodzic who served a one-game suspension. United are also monitoring the fitness of James McAtee, Iliman Ndiaye and Chris Basham after all three picked up knocks, but the latter was the one who came off in the game.
