Former Manchester United Star Ruled Out For Amex Clash

|

Brighton & Hove Albion are expecting to be without former Manchester United and Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck when they entertain Sheffield United this weekend. The striker has been out of action since late October due to a muscle injury and is expecting to be sidelined for a very long time.

Welbeck was on target in this fixture on 20th December 2020 – the last time that these two sides met at the Amex Stadium. After being reduced to ten men, following John Lundstram’s sending-off, the Blades took the lead through Jayden Boyle on 63 minutes, before Welbeck spoiled the day for the travelling Blades when he scored with three minutes remaining.

Brighton come into this fixture seventh in the table, however, they haven’t won a Premier League encounter in their last five outings. They secured a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park last weekend, but they have to go back to 24th September when they last recorded a league victory – a 3-1 home win over AFC Bournemouth. However, they have been distracted with Europa League involvement as they travel to Ajax of Amsterdam tonight!

Along with Welbeck, the Seagulls are expecting to be without five first-team players ahead of their clash with Sheffield United. Pervis Estuipinan (thigh), Julio Encisco Espinola (knee), Soloman March (also knee), and Jakub Moder, are also sidelined through injury.
