Sheffield United registered a second consecutive home victory with a stunning 2-0 win against Leeds.

An own goal by Aston Villa loanee Eric Lichaj and a close range strike by Bjorn Helge Riise were enough to give the Blades all three points in their nPower Championship survival bid.

Micky Adams was forced into three changes, which included Matt Lowton who replaced Neill Collins at the heart of the defence, Ched Evans and Daniel Bogdanovic. The Blades were the superior side throughout the ninety minutes, and were fully deserving of their victory, but it could have been very different, had Max Gradel converted his free header early on.

Leeds-born Nick Montgomery was superb throughout putting in a typically battling performance before having to be withdrawn in the second-half with a knock. His replacement Riise took no time to get in on the action however, collecting Stephen Quinn`s pass to fire home in front of the Kop.

Quinn was as instrumental in the first goal putting some good work in on the right hand side before squaring to Montgomery whose shot across goal was put in by Lichah, with Sam Vokes loitering behind.

Quinn himself could and should have been on the scoresheet within the opening minutes, but couldn`t convert from inside the area. It was just one of many chances United had, Bogdanovic with the best, when he was denied by Kasper Schmeichel in the area despite being completely unmarked. Ched Evans, and Quinn also tested the Dane.
