Duo Set For Bridge Return

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder will be boosted by the return of Oli Norwood and Oli McBurnie for the trip to Chelsea this weekend after the pair completed match bans.

Norwood served a one-match suspension having pickup up five cautions thus far this season whilst McBurnie has completed a two-match ban after he was dismissed for the second time this season – both from two yellow cards in a game.

Sheffield United come into this fixture having claimed a 1-0 victory over Brentford at Bramall Lane last Saturday despite finding themselves bottom of the league. They have a big (seemingly impossible) job retaining their Premier League status for the 2024-25 season.

The last time the two clubs met was in the FA Cup Quarterfinals in March 2021. In a poor season for the Blades, which saw Chelsea complete a league double over United, the Blues made it a triple assault over the S2 side with a 2-0 cup victory at Stamford Bridge. The last time United was victorious over the London club came in July 2020, during the project restart. Two goals from David McGoldrick and one from Oli McBurnie secured a surprised 3-0 victory.

Boss Chris Wilder will have a selection headache. Whilst he will buoy from the return of the two Oli’s (McBurnie and Norwood), the Blades will be without Jack Robinson through suspension after the former Nottingham Forest defender picked up five yellow cards this season. He will be available for the away trip to Aston Villa next Friday.
