Sheffield United defender Matt Lowton is the subject of a Championship transfer battle, as Blackpool and Ipswich Town compete for his signature.
Lowton, who enjoyed a breakthrough year at Bramall Lane last season was a revelation playing in every position across the back four and midfield. After also netting a handful of goals, he has generated interest from Paul Jewell and Ian Holloway’snrecently relegated Blackpool.
The Blades would like to keep hold of local-boy Lowton, and a starting bid of £300,000 may not be enough, considering he’s a long way from the high-earners at the club; a move back to the Championship could just be too good to turn down however, if he’s to further his own career.
