Sheffield United striker Daniel Bogdanovic will be forced to sit out the second game of his suspension when United travel across South Yorkshire to Barnsley on Saturday.

Missing games is disappointing for any player, but for Bogdanovic it’s especially bad, and he been described as “gutted” at missing the opportunity to face his former club.

The striker should have been available for the fixture, but due to the recent postponement against Reading, the Maltese international must sit out this fixture instead. Ched Evans is the only fit striker at Gary Speed’s disposal, which could force a return to action of Jamie Ward, but with Yeates and Reid expected to be in the side, the Blades boss could leave Ward to prevent any further damage.

Speed said of Bogdanovic: ‘Boggy will be desperately disappointed not to be taking part, I’m sure. It goes without saying that we’d rather he was available.’

Despite freezing temperatures around the region, the game is expected to be on, with Barnsley’s ground staff doing all they can for the fixture to get the go ahead.
