Rochdale chairman Colin Garlick has ruled Keith Hill out of a move from Spotland, after the 42 year-old was linked with vacant posts at both the Blades and Barnsley.

Hill, who is hugely popular at Spotland following promotion last season, and an encouraging campaign most recently, was believed to be a target for both manager-less sides in South Yorkshire, but Garlick has been quick to put an end to the speculation.

‘There’s been no approach for the services of Keith Hill from Barnsley, Sheffield United or any other club for that matter.

‘Keith and I have been working together as normal, signing up players on new contracts and drawing up plans for pre-season.

‘We’ve had this kind of speculation before with Crystal Palace in January but Keith Hill is Rochdale manager and is doing an outstanding job.’

It appears then, the Blades may have to look elsewhere, if Hill was on the radar.
