Reda Khadra has officially signed a contract extension with Brighton and Hove Albion and has been shipped out on loan to Birmingham City with immediate effect.

Today has officially put a stop to all the rumours concerning Reda Khadra and his Sheffield United career. Unfortunately, what seemed to be a great signing in the summer turned out to be a disastrous signing in the end.

Khadra ended up making only 15 appearances in the league for United, with his only goal of his Blades career being the stoppage time winner against Swansea City, which was ultimately his only contribution, and the highlight of his Blades career.

After chasing Khadra all summer, to try and get a loan-to-buy deal over the line, it wqe a disastrous move for both parties. Khadra was left extremely frustrated with his lack of game time.

Paul Heckingbottom and the supporters were hoping to get the dangerous and explosive tricky forward that we all saw at Blackburn Rovers last season, in the end we saw barely anything from him.

Today, Reda Khadra signed a contract extension with his parent club Brighton and Hove Albion which will increase his stay at the club to 2024.

Khadra was quoted today saying:

“When I got the call that Birmingham wanted me, I was excited to go somewhere and get some minutes and play more.” [Birmingham City]

My Verdict

It is uncertain how much United paid for the loan and view-to-buy option of Khadra, but what we do know is that it was a complete waste of money.

That is now three direct dribblers that the Blades have signed in the last few windows: Callum Robinson, Oli Burke and Reda Khadra. All three of them were deemed as failed signings because they didn’t fit the wingback system.
