Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says he is still hopeful of bringing in defender Bob Harris from Blackpool.

The 26-year-old was all set to join Sheffield United this week but the move was scuppered after the championship side parted company with manager Paul Ince.

New caretaker boss Barry Ferguson pulled the plug on the move but Clough is still hoping to do a deal ahead of the transfer window closing a week on Friday.

Speaking on BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “With Blackpool changing manager this week, it is now on hold but we are still hoping to pick him up.

“The ball is totally in their court. We had agreed a deal, they changed manager and the new manager wants to keep him around for a while.”

Harris has made just an handful of appearances for Blackpool since joining them from Scottish side Queen of the South in the summer of 2012.

He has made just four appearances this season, although he came off the bench last weekend in the defeat at Barnsley, his first appearance since September.
